Cosmetics - Be “Ware”
How do we know about product
X, Y, or Z? The chances are great that we have seen some type of
advertising - television, radio, a magazine, a billboard, flyer, the modes
are numerous. We are literally bombarded with the latest gadgets,
technology and products to make our lives easier and better. The same is
true in the skin care and cosmetics arena. There is so much out there to
choose from! So, how does one go about making a wise choice?
First of all, is there
really a difference in the skin care lines in the drug store and the
department stores? Yes, there is! Most companies that produce
skin care lines and cosmetics have tiers. The lowest quality and least
costly product goes to the drug stores. And in case you haven’t noticed,
over the past 10 years, the price of the “cheap” lines has taken quite a
leap in price! These cosmetic lines are marketed to everyone regardless
of age or income. The assumption is that we are all going to use
something, so it may as well be X. Y. or Z. These products are produced
in mass quantities, so there is no constraint used regarding
preservatives, artificial colors, fragrances and toxic chemicals.
Skin care and cosmetic lines
sold in department stores are usually higher quality and much more
costly than those sold in the drug stores. They do have ingredients that
are beneficial, but finding what makes a difference for your skin is trial
and error. These products are still loaded with preservatives, artificial
colors, fragrances and toxic chemicals. When was the last time you looked
at the ingredient list of your moisturizer or hair care product? Did you
notice that it read like chemical manufacturing plant?
What is a “Cosmoseutical”?
A cosmoseutical is a skin care product that has been
engineered to perform a specific function and address a specific problem.
These products are only found in physician’s offices and spas that have a
Medical director. These products are engineered to perform at the
cellular level to Correct specific skin care issues such as
hyperpigmentation , fine lines and wrinkles, cell turn over, acne,
rosacea and collagen and elastin production. Many of these products are
developed by pharmaceutical companies which have research and development
departments that are looking for new break throughs around the clock.
These products are all ph correct, contain the highest amount of active
ingredient allowed by the FDA, and have been engineered to make sure the
active ingredient gets to the cell. Skin care lines sold in department
stores are able to utilize only part of the latest technology due to
patent controls and FDA restrictions on the level of active ingredient
sold to the general public. The added bonus is that cosmoseuticals
are not any more costly than the product you would purchase at the
department store, yet they are top performers.
The next time you look in
the mirror and think that you might need “something”, do yourself a
favor and look farther than the corner drug store or your favorite
department store to Improve the Skin you are In!
